    • #7 by Michele on 2011.04.28 - 7:13 pm

    • #11 by VoniLei on 2011.04.24 - 2:07 pm

MW, just wanted to say that if you add a There.com windowcling to the There shop, I would happily put one on my car!

      • #12 by Lila :) on 2011.04.25 - 9:22 am

Is this website owned by MW?? Or is it just a player run web? If it’s player run, then I think that Michael should definently open a There.com online store!! Alot of people, as well as myself, would buy items. Not to mention it would help with money:)

  6. #13 by spy vs. spy on 2011.04.22 - 8:40 am

i have heard that the spades table in SL made by a therian was made by pulling the table file from the there client, idk if it’s true, or rumor, you decide
    https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/OHBSESSION-Spades/1583796

    • #14 by spy vs. spy on 2011.04.22 - 9:25 am

but makes ya kinda wonder, would a therian as loyal as orangehairedboy do something like this, as that is who made this, well it says made by OHB, so guessing it’s him

    • #15 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.23 - 11:25 am

Pulling the table file from the there client would only provide the model and texture as far as I am aware. I have a copy of the sculpted tables and chairs that OHB (orangehairedboy) used and they were made from scratch with the sculpt studio for Second Life. The code used to make these tables work for Spades are LSL (Linden Scripting Language). It is not stolen.

  7. #16 by Aaron on 2011.04.22 - 8:25 am

Im really happy that there.com “Might” be re-opening. if it doesnt make it, im wondering if theres a possibility you could open THERE-IM, so we could atleast see our avies again and communicate with previous friends, l aiso think this wouldnt be as costy?

  8. #17 by jimony on 2011.04.22 - 7:21 am

Michael, are the items that were designed by people who took and sold their designs to YowNow (YourOtherWorld-NotOurWorld) going to still be able to be allowed here? I would imagine they would be because they should have given you permission to use it indefinitely when they submitted it, right? I would guess, other items like Coke stuff would be similar. I don’t think they can take them away from those who have already purchased them, but you probably won’t be able to sell new ones.

I also wonder if some of the employees of There might have given YN confidential information. I understand if this isn’t something you can comment on.

    • #18 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.22 - 7:25 am

“I also wonder if some of the employees of There might have given YN confidential information. I understand if this isn’t something you can comment on.”

That’s why we have lawyers. We haven’t fooled around in the past when it comes to our IP, and we aren’t fooling around now (notice that’s present tense).

  9. #19 by shockwave yareach on 2011.04.22 - 6:54 am

I would suggest creating a “Anything Goes” continent. There people can be as vile or vulgar as they want to be, as true freedom is not limited only to clean and wholesome matters. Offer a place where people can CHOOSE to go and do anything they wish to do, the way SL used to be run, and you’ll be able to steal SL’s lunch right out from under their face.

I will pay to play, certainly. Nothing is free. But not if I cannot generate my own content and play in the virtual world the way I see fit. If the VW is bound by the same societal norms as real life, then I just won’t bother. I want a VW that allows me to throw society’s chains in the garbage for just a little while and be unfettered and free of the rules, of physics, of reality itself. Not the whole of the VW; just a part of it. Create a continent where there are no rules save for hacking, and watch those who SL has screwed over come running to your door.

    • #20 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.22 - 7:23 am

Granted. We call that continent “Second Life”. It’s open now, and it’s free. (Sorry!)

      • #21 by shockwave yareach on 2011.04.22 - 7:31 am

Anything Goes? In SL? Have you actually seen the tomes of TOS currently in force at the people’s democratic republic of SL lately???

It’s a video game. It’s not real. it doesn’t need the Chinese legal and penal restrictions in a place where nothing is real and nothing can cause anyone any harm. But there it is, crushing the freedoms and fun of the place. If There2 can comprehend that and open a Wild West continent, they’ll gain all the players from SL who originally entered because SL was a wild west where anything was possible.

      • #22 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.22 - 8:01 pm

shockwave, what is to stop those people from entering other islands with the same disregard for society and law. Or even if their avatars are locked to this wild west location, what is to stop them making an alt account?

Do you really think such a place in There is in fine tune with MW’s and There’s business ethics?

    • #23 by Roxannie on 2011.04.22 - 8:30 am

that’s what the naughty box is for, and in your own zone as long as no one is around that will report you, you can talk as you please, but I don’t want a dirty there.com there are already two or three out there to join, red light and SL there.com wouldn’t be the same if it was dirty, and like i said, naughty box, ya can be as dirty as ya want and not offend anyone πŸ™‚ and no i don’t know this from experience, rofl

    • #24 by Koala07 on 2011.04.22 - 11:00 am

To shockwave yareach I am one who has never gone to SL because of the way they allowed there continent. I am a long time member of there.com it is the only VW I have played and look forward to it coming back. My self and a lot of others I now would not come back if the TOS rules where not kept.

What you seam to want is anarchy in the there.com and if you truly got that, you would more than likely to be the fist to complain about it.

MW has a great handle on what the there needs to be to attract the most amount of people who will pay and hopefully keep there open, if we are so fortunate for it to re-open.

Lets get there re-open by being willing to pay $15.00 a month and pay 6 months to a year in advance to keep it open.

  10. #25 by dakota. on 2011.04.22 - 5:26 am

i don’t really have much to say, but thank you.

  11. #26 by Marianne (JoyofLife) on 2011.04.22 - 5:25 am

Last survey shows revenue through subscriptions only $24k/mo = $228k/yr. But 244 ppl had “other” answers. For one, I replied in this “other” category that I would pay $100/mo with bundled tbux, PB refills and funzone (and perhaps certain bundled developer rights/costs). Without knowing if the “244 other replies” were similar to mine, I estimate at least some “power-players” would indicate the same. If 100 did at $100/mo, including “power developers” then the annual number could be $408k/yr.

The survey results to-date has only run for 15 days (1/2 the 30 days indicated by MW). It does not take into consideration the future mass mailing replies. These should easily double the number. Conservatively reducing by 50% for drop-offs, the number comes back to @$400k/yr.

Would Makena need just about $400-$500k per yr to adequately cover expenses?

    • #27 by tom on 2011.04.22 - 7:51 am

i think he would wants to have a game with more then 6 people in it.

  12. #28 by JKI on 2011.04.22 - 4:24 am

MW- no such word as *lossage* :p

    • #29 by jimony on 2011.04.22 - 6:11 am

jargon) lossage – /los’*j/ The result of a bug or malfunction. This is a mass or collective noun. “What a loss!” and “What lossage!” are nearly synonymous. The former is slightly more particular to the speaker’s present circumstances; the latter implies a continuing lose of which the speaker is currently a victim. Thus (for example) a temporary hardware failure is a loss, but bugs in an important tool (like a compiler) are serious lossage.

    • #30 by Roxannie on 2011.04.22 - 7:30 am

ermmmm, the online dictionary seems to believe it’s a word ~ (jargon) lossage – /los’*j/ The result of a bug or malfunction. This is a mass or collective noun. “What a loss!” and “What lossage!” are nearly synonymous. The former is slightly more particular to the speaker’s present circumstances; the latter implies a continuing lose of which the speaker is currently a victim. 13. #31 by NoBioN on 2011.04.21 - 11:55 pm

I wish you were a bit more open about what is needed to open. Like what amount of numbers is needed. And how much or how big the difference the cost is when running with the cloud server system and no extra staff expenses to support a pg 13 envoirement compared to the old there.com server system and extra staff ?

  14. #32 by tom on 2011.04.21 - 7:09 pm

o yeah MW i know you said that if there comes back it will be available for mac and i also herd somewhere but i don’t know if its true that it would be available for I pad and i pod touch. is there and truth to this?

    • #33 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 7:46 pm

No, the iPad and iPod touch are not Macs. Sorry.

      • #34 by Therians Fan on 2011.04.21 - 10:49 pm

Actually, come to think of it, do you think it’s possible, and use the ThereIM as a mobile app? ie: Android, and iPhone etc…

  15. #35 by tom on 2011.04.21 - 6:45 pm

how many more people need to take the survey before you can make the decision?

    • #36 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.21 - 9:30 pm

While I can’t give you the official number, I’d like to give you a guessed number of at least 20 million. πŸ˜›

      • #37 by jimony on 2011.04.21 - 11:07 pm

I’d be willing to say if it got close to that, we’d be seeing There.com again. Maybe even ThereThere.com.
Of course if we don’t get enough valid responses we will be seeing lots of “There there, don’t cry”s.

      • #38 by JKI on 2011.04.22 - 5:15 am

        joke.

      • #39 by tom on 2011.04.22 - 7:46 am

……. that’s more then face book, wow, and x box live.we don’t need that many.

      • #40 by jimony on 2011.04.24 - 10:57 pm

Yes, JKI, I was kidding. Hopefully it didn’t in fact need to have my joke actually pointed out that it was in fact a joke. LOL

  16. #41 by nextalk on 2011.04.21 - 5:18 pm

This is the best news that I have ever heard. I have spent months just occasionally checking the There.com site to see what was going on. Mostly to see if there.com was re-open or if there were any plans to re-open. earlier in the week I checked the there.com site, and too my amazement Makena was having a survey to see if there.com would Possibly open. As I have examined the results, it seems (at least to me) that it is going good. It is my one and only true wish that there.com will reopen. And hopefully with as few changes as possible for I know the old there was way to costly. There, was a place of adventure, excitement, energy, thrill, fun, socialization, experience, and much much more!

Click this link it is a video made by Virtualvikki composed of stories of the many lives that there.com has changed.

No matter the out come I forever give you my thanks, for at least trying to bring back something that everyone benefited from.

    Thank you,
    Nextalk

  17. #43 by Rick on 2011.04.21 - 5:15 pm

mr wilson again i know you dont wanna answer these questions but , what will happen if we dont pay the fee in time will the account get suspended or what? thanks

  18. #44 by daniel on 2011.04.21 - 5:11 pm

(as promised, this comment has been erased).

  19. #45 by Chauncy Boogerheart on 2011.04.21 - 5:05 pm

    My important questions are:

    1) Would you consider a boxing match against YOWNOW’s “CEO”.

    2) Are the ‘investors’ you mention real or are they figments of your imagination that you have created out of years of work related stress? Are you afraid of them?

    3) Do your feelings get hurt when people talk bad about you or make fun of you? Or do you enjoy a good laugh about it?

    • #46 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 5:13 pm

      1. No.

      2. Very real, and no, I’m not scared of them. I’m responsible to them. By way of disclosure, the biggest investor is myself, through my own venture “arm”, if you will. It has invested in many other things, including (for example) Cerulean Studios, who makes Trillian, and Trilogy Studios, who made MTV’s Pimp My Ride, and DreamWorks’s Kung Fu Panda.

      3. I never laugh at these things. If people care enough to say bad things, they must be really bothered by something and I can at least try and figure out what that is. If people talk bad about There members, or There employees (past and present), that’s a different matter (with the exception of former employees or contractors that have done wrong , or are doing wrong, by the company)

  20. #47 by Basya on 2011.04.21 - 4:50 pm

    Hi Michael!

Again, I ‘m so very excited about the possibility of reopening! I’ve thought of another question I haven’t seen mentioned:

As a designer, will I have to resubmit my designs that I had previously submitted? Will I have to pay again to submit, or will they automatically show up in my account? I do assume, of course, I will have to pay auction fees to have them on auction.

    Thanks again,
    Basya

    • #48 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 5:09 pm

Everything will be, as closely as we can manage, as you left it.

      • #49 by Basya on 2011.04.22 - 12:37 am

Oh, thanks so much! Hopefully apps like JinXplorer will be available in the near future also if There does reopen! Would make relisting for auctions so much simpler to begin with. I know, I know — wishful thinking! But a gal can dream, can’t she? πŸ™‚

I am so looking forward to flying my planes, etc around the islands again! I have really missed my vehicles — in no other program (including SL, etc) can one fly or drive vehicles so realistically and consistently!!

I really do appreciate the fact you’ve been reconsidering re-opening even though it seemed very improbable all this last year! I can well understand what it must have meant to you to do so! Thanks again!

        Hope to cya in There!
        –Basya

  21. #50 by daniel on 2011.04.21 - 4:47 pm

well if we cant change our name can we at least pick our name tag colour

    • #51 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 4:55 pm

I’m glad people are interested in changes like this, but, again, this survey is for figuring out if enough people are interested in paying to make it possible to re-open There. I’m really not prepared to answer questions of this nature at this time.

    • #52 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.21 - 9:22 pm

A nametag color change will cost you $4.95. All checks can be made payable to Secrets of Vonira. πŸ˜‰

    • #57 by daniel on 2011.04.21 - 5:07 pm

lol how do you make a buggy do you use gmax?????

      • #58 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 5:14 pm

Ok, Daniel, that’s enough. You may find your comments disappearing from now on.

  25. #59 by Brittany on 2011.04.21 - 3:15 pm

Alright, that seems simple enough what about the name are you gonna keep the name There.com or you gonna change and another thing if you don’t mind,? when excatly are you sending the mass email’s out ?

    • #60 by jimony on 2011.04.21 - 6:40 pm

In his previous blog comments he answered this question, it will still be called There.com. Thankfully.
There2.com would have been clumsy. I want to be There too, not There2.

      • #61 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.21 - 9:18 pm

I want to be There once, not There twice.

      • #62 by jimony on 2011.04.21 - 11:00 pm

Oh, well, There’s done been once, so I guess you got your first wish, what’s your other two?

  26. #63 by Brittany on 2011.04.21 - 3:00 pm

Well, what would we have to do start all over again to have a different avie name ?

    • #64 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 3:07 pm

You’d register a new avatar then, with a different Avie Name.

  27. #65 by daniel on 2011.04.21 - 2:36 pm

you remember how we could get a radio and put on a station…..well what if we could make our own radio station with mp3’s on our computer ad be cool

    • #66 by Malingo on 2011.04.22 - 8:12 am

That was already possible. The radio stations were “Shoutcast”-channels. Anyone could download the shoutcast client/server tools and broadcast voice/soundfiles/music through (for example Winamp, shoutcast) and listen to it in the ingame radios.
I liked the ingame radios. It was always nice to be able to tune in a channel and listen to it with your friends, within the game.
I hope the radio’s will be there once/if There reopens again.

  28. #67 by Brittany on 2011.04.21 - 2:29 pm

Mr Wilson, will we be able to change our avatar names ?

    Thank you

  29. #69 by daniel on 2011.04.21 - 1:49 pm

hey for all you guys who want MW to go all lock down on the 18+ rule. think about this.sure this wont effect the people who are over 18 who used to play there but if when there.com reopened and i had never played it befor. to give my credit card info and all that without a trial i don’t think i would want to bother with all of it because it might be a scam.bas icily what im saying is that sure it can be 18+ but if i was going to play there for the first time i would never give my cc info and cir-tinly not i for get who suggested this to MW but give a fax imprint of my id to a game i dont even know is real.if there reopens its not just for us old therians. were going to need new people to join to make this work.

    • #70 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.21 - 5:36 pm

      My brain hurts now daniel.

    • #71 by tom on 2011.04.21 - 6:47 pm

      confusing. but it makes sense.

    • #72 by tom on 2011.04.21 - 6:55 pm

huh:P this daniel guy posted so many comments MW wont let him post any more apparently. lol

    • #73 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.21 - 9:15 pm

That would be Vonira/YowCow that you’re thinking of being the scam.

  30. #74 by Emma on 2011.04.21 - 1:43 pm

im probably not gonna be able to pay as paypal isnt an option for me and credit card was. I think MW may loose quite a few people wanting to sign back up as they wanted to use the credit card option, im very upset that i may not be able to play there again. as a result of this

    • #75 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 1:45 pm

      Emma,

You can use a Credit Card with PayPal without having a PayPal account. We’ll probably also support PayByCash again.

      • #76 by Rick on 2011.04.21 - 2:02 pm

oops sorry replied before refreshing so didnt see mr wilsons reply

      • #77 by Emma on 2011.04.21 - 2:15 pm

ok thank you, im still a bit confused about the whole combining accounts thing, if someone wanted to combine an account (if that option became avalible) would you be able to combine an account that was made under the age limit, even though my daughter would be unable to continue to play the game would i be able to recive her items onto my account, as that was the account i put most monney into. thanks.

      • #78 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 2:57 pm

The combining accounts thing isn’t decided yet.

    • #79 by Rick on 2011.04.21 - 2:01 pm

paypal will accept cc’s for there and you can allways use game cards with paybycash ex: paysafe and ultimategc

  31. #80 by Mimi06 on 2011.04.21 - 10:53 am

I won’t tell you how many CLUB Penguin gifts cards I have had to purchase over this past year rofl.. I saw Farmville Gift Cards.. but eh…. ( no the cards weren’t for me, hush up dolphy , rofl)

    • #81 by Dolphin on 2011.04.21 - 10:36 pm

LOL mimi don’t blame it on Haley you know all those cards were for you πŸ˜›

  32. #82 by Jason on 2011.04.21 - 9:07 am

I think advertising with limited funds will of course be difficult at the start up. However, passionate There fans that believe in it’s potential, its up to US to self promote the game. Via social networking such as twitter and facebook, and telling friends we might have met in other virtual universes since There’s closure. Now, more than ever we have more potential to promote a game via word of mouth…or should I say type.

I’m sure many people who love the stupid little games on facebook such as Farmville are completely oblivious to a world so exciting and grand as there.

So come on Thereians, let’s get the word out!

    • #83 by NoBioN on 2011.04.21 - 11:18 am

Yes. But we need all thereians to know about this. Hopefully the emails will get that done. Because somehow i think that only a fraction of the people that used to play & love there.com currently is aware. Its currently around 3000 people that did the survey. And that number is not very high considering there.com have had users through it from 2003 – 2010.

    • #84 by Kangaroo on 2011.04.21 - 11:22 am

Yep, the social media might play a bigger role now. When you think about it, when There ran back in 2003, it was before Twitter, Facebook and even Youtube really existed.
Could There use/benefit more from social media now than before maybe?

  33. #85 by Brido on 2011.04.21 - 8:26 am

Lets say there.com was to re-open with a payment per month option, What if there was another option to offer paying for 6 months straight up? Like how xbox live works. Or what about having your mandatory monthly payment for example it’s $10 but giving people the option to pay for $15 or $20 With giving them added extras.

    Thanks

    • #86 by Winston on 2011.04.21 - 12:44 pm

You could always just pay the $10/month fee then buy $5 – $10 in Tbux. When I signed up for premium they offered a “bonus bux” program where they gave a higher rate of Tbux per dollar for adding a certain amount of money to your membership fee.

Are there going to be Island Guides to welcome newcomers and help them learn there? If so how will it work will there be a welcome walkway or someplace for them to teleport to get started? Or will it be up to the person to learn on their own after they become a member?

    • #88 by Emma on 2011.04.21 - 8:29 am

nope he said erlier in this that they are not having island guides

      • #89 by Dustin Keifer on 2011.04.21 - 5:21 pm

I asked him if people that were Island Guides would be Island Guides when there opened up. He didn’t say if that there wasn’t going to be Island Guides and he didn’t say there was going to be. Maybe people should read peoples comments before commenting on them plus. I was asking Mr wilson.

Well actually, we first have to review the data to root out the duplicates by people who have hacked around the Survey’s methods for detecting people who take the survey more than once. That will give us a true count.

So, it won’t be on May 7th.

    • #107 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 7:06 am

I’m surprised and flattered that someone who has the role of CEO has so much time to spend talking about me. He must feel it somehow serves his business and his customers.

what is YowNow? it looks so similar?? and its opening soon, will this be a problem for there?

    • #110 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 7:42 pm

Hmm. Not sure how to answer that. I’m sure you can ask the other folks here and they’ll offer you an unbiased view.

    • #111 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.20 - 7:54 pm

YowNow is a “virtual world” in the works, and under development by ex Therians. The teams consist of mostly prolific 3rd party designers that used to use There.Com. They formed shortly after There.Com closed promising to be just like There, even though they hate There, disallow you to speak of it unless it involves slander, and for some reason insist on building their userbase primarily out of ex Therians.

“Staff” if you can call them that have been attacking Michael Wilson directly in this blog as well as other ex players who have come to his defence. Even such names as pedofile have been drawn into the namecalling pool. If YowNow were a real company with all the paperwork, they would have been sued to the hilt by now by MW and the case would have 99 had a chance of being successful for damages. But as it stands, MW obviously thinks they are a joke as he has not taken any action and welcomes their comments here to show to the world their own stupidity.

I hope this clears up any background information and recent activity relating to Yownow staff and members. I pity the once reputable designers who are somehow still under the influence of this bizarre Japetto Yownow has.

      • #112 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.20 - 8:20 pm

http://secretsofvonira.wordpress.com has the best explanation and truths about Vonira/YowNow

In short, it is a fraud with empty promises that will never happen. It is owned by a reincarnated Hitler.

      • #113 by Roxannie on 2011.04.20 - 9:26 pm

anybody wanna buy some cheap zmw’s rofl rofl rofl I won’t be keeping them if there2 opens

they using favoritism with the 1st 50 crap and i’m quite frankly tired of waiting for it, there are 2 worlds that are basically suppose to open soon all the time, one of them even has people buying virtual money and it’s not even open, wow!!!!! and all these places are is part time hobbies for these people and i just read that one of them is running low on funds, darn, i have posted on RLP facebook posts just to verbally get a attacked by a kid that is actually in charge of PR i have heard, because i asked them how they felt about the huge drop in their like clicks since a year ago, i’m not holding out any hope for either of them and a friend of mine who is a there beta doesn’t hold out hope for either one either, as they are what they are, part time hobbies, not full time jobs

      • #114 by Winston on 2011.04.21 - 5:07 am

I’m not sure it’s fair to lump RLP in with YowNow. While both are building on the Unity Engine their approaches and attitudes toward everything are completely different. The folks at RLP are good people and remember, you can’t build a virtual world in a year, no matter what “off the shelf” product you’re utilizing.

      • #115 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 6:19 am

I don’t think that’s fair either. The RLP folks are good people, and we wish them all the luck in their ventures!

      • #116 by Shauna Meyers on 2011.04.21 - 11:58 am

…deleted by ThereMichaelWilson… Yownow looks like a complete ripoff of There.com and Secondlife… literally its not unique at all. The world looks like secondlife, the designers (houses and furniture) are from There.com and the avatars suck. There.com was THE BEST virtual world. It wasn’t super laggy like SL and the avatars were awesome:))!!!!! There is the BEST virtual game out there!!!!

(I’ve deleted some personal remarks from this comment)

      • #117 by There lover on 2011.04.21 - 3:46 pm

Well I think thats a little harsh to say to RLP.. As the Founder said in the post she said that they only started RLP on a couple of thousand dollars. They aren’t saying you should, they are saying for development would go fast if people would start buying them. Also! They have a game called Style Studio that can be used to create clothing.. and you can buy Templates for shirts. And even more of them to come… So i don;t think thats totally fair Roxannie. Also if you’d like to tell me who “attacked” you on the RLP Facebook wall I’m sure they weren’t meaning it like that.

And at least RLP isn’t trying to say they are something they really aren’t… nor will be.. or be better than.

      • #118 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 3:52 pm

I agree. No harshing on RLP here.

      • #119 by Orielle on 2011.04.21 - 4:41 pm

Real Life Plus was started in the Summer of 2009 by actual former employees of vSide . Not once have they ever claimed they would be as good as or better than such and such place. You are free to talk about other virtual worlds and don’t have to fear getting banned for giving your opinion. They have actual screenshots and videos taken inside their virtual world and now have video of a few members running around in world and also have an app on Facebook you can use to make some clothing.

Yownow on the other hand keeps making promises that I find hard to believe that he’ll actually be able to keep. Make a suggestion in their forums for a feature from There and the typical reply seems to be yes, they’ll have that and it’ll be even better than TOP’s… (I think TOP stands for There Omni Potens πŸ˜› ) Right now their screenshots consists mainly of some land and water with trees and a buggy model that just sits there, and a prototype female avatar whose eyes and eyebrows look like they are from There’s avie. As for Thereian members who are now staff over there… I wouldn’t hold a grudge against them. Not all over there act as childishly as the more vocal ones. Hopefully there will be a virtual world but they do have a long road ahead of them if they intend to fulfill all those promises made…

I am actually looking forward to seeing both worlds open. I like trying to break things in beta and I’m sure the staff at Envie appreciates that. lol

      • #120 by Skyefire on 2011.04.21 - 5:44 pm

Oh man, and are we harsh on poor EnVie. There isn’t a bug in existence there we haven’t abused to death!

      • #121 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.21 - 5:54 pm

Envie is another good one. A few Ex-There employees there :-).

      • #122 by Orielle on 2011.04.21 - 6:52 pm

Yes I know which is why I decided to give Envie a try. I’ve recognized a few names of former There staff in their forums. The GMs have been great too. I was very surprised when one GM greeted a Thereian by asking if he had seen “your ceo’s” survey yet. πŸ™‚

      • #123 by VoniLei on 2011.04.24 - 2:03 pm

Orielle is 100% correct regarding alpha testing in RL+. I’m one of the avvies you see running around in the video that Francis made πŸ˜›

Roxannie, aka Robin, I know the post you’re referring to…and the person you are referring to in your comment here is not “in charge of PR” at Real Life Plus. He’s a volunteer Community Team member, just as I am.

    • #124 by jimony on 2011.04.21 - 6:55 am

Check out this thread on Thumdar for more information on Yow.
RLP cannot be compared to YowNow because they are being developed by people who actually have experience in the gaming world.
They also have an actual Alpha test in progress.

Mr. Wilson, can I ask you this? Based on the results shown right now.. do you think There has a shot with the current statistics?

  44. #126 by EvenStupider on 2011.04.20 - 5:57 pm

Mr Wilson, will the survey still only run for it’s standard 30 days? Given that the mass e-mail plan has not yet been launched?

  45. #127 by MissyMay on 2011.04.20 - 4:44 pm

    Hi Michael Wilson,
    I enjoyed There.com SO much.
As you said, There.com USED to be 13+, now it’s 18+, i’m perfectly fine with that.
But if it WERE to open.. i have a problem.
See, I got my account from my younger sister. She is 16, she made the There.com account. But then, she didn’t want it anymore so I took over and paid for a premium account and spent money on the account that was originally hers. I’m not quite sure what she signed the account with, (age wise) but I am 19 now, Therefore I cover the 18+ rule (obviously) so, I was wondering IF There were to reopen would I be able to redeem my avatar with all my posessions? I would deffinelty make sure my sister didn’t use my account, and I would change my birth date and verify with a credit card if needed. Please reply!

And guys who are getting on Michael’s case, You should really stop, Because he may have promised something, or may not of, but things happen, and especially in this decreasing economy, when it comes to money, you can’t promise ANYTHING to be honest. He closed it down, and we all understand hurt feelings & feelings of betrayel or whatever.. But you guys.. atleast MW is making an attempt to reopen. It’s deffinetly not like he wanted to shut down There.com, His pride, His joy. Even if There.com dosn’t reopen.. it’s still very very VERY cool that he atleast tried to reopen it. This is up to the public to choose if they want to pay and have it reopend. Not him, It’s not fair for MW to go broke just because some people want to play an awesome game. But what has to happen, has to happen. Guys, come on, stop being heartless and try and step in MW’s shoes, This is alot of math and probablity to deal with, and he deserves respect. Thanks guysβ™₯

  46. #128 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.20 - 2:16 pm

Awareness is increasing πŸ™‚ slowly but surely….

Let’s say 90 per cent of those figures are legit, that’s about halfway to a secure number of customers right?

    • #129 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 4:02 pm

You must be reading another blog, because I’ve never said how many customers it would take. Nice try tough!

      • #130 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.20 - 7:58 pm

lol MW sorry dude, I wasn’t trying to trick you..I was simply saying is 4 or even 5000 people even going to do it for you? I’m not an agent, and I’m certainly not reading another or reporting to, another blog.

I appreciate you have a lot of nutcases on your…case! So am not offended by what you are insinuating :p its ok.

I hope your plans and hopes come to fruition. We all do. We miss There.

  47. #131 by daniel on 2011.04.20 - 1:41 pm

i think that question #98 by Kangaroo was good. like i think if people knew how great there was they would want to try it but to try it you would need a trial account for say 4 hours….? you could do like a ip ban type of thing so you could only make one trial

  48. #132 by daniel on 2011.04.20 - 1:37 pm

and could we maby put a side scroll er on the side of our inventory menu because it took forever to get all the way through for those with a lot in there inventory

    • #133 by NurseJay on 2011.04.21 - 7:29 pm

in the green client that was released prior to the closing of there, this inventory issue was settled. The sort box was resizeable, and the organizer was able to be open outside of the there client window.

    • #136 by Daniel on 2011.04.20 - 7:14 pm

I think he said somewhere that after there re-opens you will have 6 mounths to clame your account and after that the account will be deleted to make room for more new accounts

    • #137 by Roxannie on 2011.04.20 - 7:23 pm

he answered this, and i believe he said after six months if the avatar is not claimed it’s gone, and the name goes back up for grabs

  51. #138 by Shauna Meyers on 2011.04.20 - 11:08 am

Hey Michael:) I have a great idea to get the word out about the survey!!!!
If you look at the right side of Facebook, there are ALWAYS advertisements… if you see at the top of the advertisements there is a button that says “create an ad”…
You get to choose how much money you wanna put in it daily, and it can be as low as $1 per day. The more money you spend per day, the more people on Facebook see it!!! Most There.com users had a Facebook…. By putting an advertisement out on Facebook, I guarantee alot more people who are interested in reopening There.com will see it!
Also, may I suggest a title such as “There.com Re-opening!!”…
    Just a suggestion:) thankss

Explaining to a 21st century CEO how Pay Per Click Advertising works… This made me laugh… pretty damn hard actually.

    • #149 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 9:03 am

We will have to check on Coca-Cola items. Not sure what the answer is there.

      • #150 by There lover on 2011.04.20 - 10:13 am

I to would like to know this. If so.. I have no buggies.

      • #151 by Therians Fan on 2011.04.20 - 11:52 am

I do hope that they will allow it, because Coca~Cola is my only favorite soda to drink. I would drink coca-cola 3 or 4 times a day. lol I know it’s bad for you. lol. :p What about with Scion, Spin, and all of the other sponsors that There had? Would we still be able to have the items?

    • #152 by MadHatterMemphis on 2011.04.20 - 10:43 am

yes I would also like to know about the branded items.I had several coke buggies and boats and 1 or more of each of the scions.would love to still have them if There reopens.spent alot of time and money building up my car collection.as well as several of my friends.we all had well around 100 vehicles alot of which were rather expensive.

  55. #153 by NoBioN on 2011.04.20 - 8:54 am

Maybe you could post some examples on what it will cost to run the new there.com. To give us costumers a idea about what kind of money is needed to get things going?

I keep wondering about that πŸ™‚

  56. #154 by Innie on 2011.04.20 - 8:52 am

    Michael,

I applaud your patience. I would have lost it and would be saying really snarky things in response by now. Good job!! πŸ™‚

To all those that are complaining about having to pay for something…..Get over it. Quit being so cheap. We are talking about $10 a month. That is less than going to the stupid movies, 1 time. So you get enjoyment for an entire month, for less than going to the movies for a max of 3 hrs. Sounds great to me! If you have a problem with it, go play something like Vindictus, or Free Realms. But please, quit posting on here complaining and whining about having to pay a fee for something. Nothing worth while in life is free.

  57. #155 by NoBioN on 2011.04.20 - 8:46 am

You know “entropia universe” michael? In theory its exactly the same. But people “invest” in that game. It is investing. But nothing can hide the truth that if the company goes bancrupt. They loose it too. So you can invest in there.com. In theory. Your investment is dependent on the survival of the company though.

  58. #156 by Kangaroo on 2011.04.20 - 8:33 am

I might be a bit of topic. But I’m wondering about the “country demography” of the Therians. I met a lot of interesting people from all over the world in There. Most Americans I believe, some from Australia, and some from different parts of Europe, maybe some Asians & Africans too.
Im located in Sweden, and my general feeling was that there were not many Swedes > Scandinavians > Northern Europeans > Europeans , aware of There. I could be wrong, but that was my feeling from my time in There. I think many europeans are/were aware of SL for example, but I think There was less known.
(In case of a re-open) I guess the main market for the game is obviously the U.S, but are there any thoughts about “expanding” There more to other parts of the world? Like advertisement / publicity / Connections to other companies around the world. Or something like that.

    • #157 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 8:43 am

Great questions, but not quite the place I would discuss them. Sorry!

  59. #158 by NoBioN on 2011.04.20 - 8:07 am

“problaly yes”. I liked that reply. Especially Considering the question in which it was the reply.

I hope you posseses great amounts of patience michael. Answering the same questions over and over again is pretty tiresome.

The thing is. How many in that survey, that have filled it out is infact kids?

Any news on the email? You said you had to work on it. So that it won’t end up being flagged as spam? I catch myself checking email much more often these days in hope to see that email. That will really make this survey hopefully reflect a more realistic insight to what income is possible for there.com to make.

Anyhow myself and many of the friends i had inside there.com spent much more than 10 $ ingame monthly. So if the poll really reflects the amount of adults prepared to play & pay with atleast spending those 10$ a month. The real income should be much higher since many adults tend to spend atleast 10$ on ingame stuff as well.

We are still waiting for Amazon to get back to us.

    • #160 by Percy on 2011.05.06 - 3:33 am

I am unsure why everybody is so obsessed about the ‘star’ being some kind of ‘status-symbol’. It was used as a ‘pass’ to get to the welcome walkway and furthermore (at least for me), it was kind of like an ‘info here’ sign. Of course anyone can be helpful, but I have seen so many people tell absolute nonsense to newbies. At least he IG’s were given the correct info to distribute. True, we had absolute dipsticks amongst us, but most tried their best, only to be trashed by ‘older’ Thereians with no clear grasp of what we were doing….

would members that were island guides still be island guides once they paid for the membership and came back on?

    • #162 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 8:05 am

      No…

      • #163 by Cerenela on 2011.04.20 - 3:20 pm

That means that you already have decided that there wouldn’t be Island Guides?

      • #164 by Roxannie on 2011.04.20 - 7:08 pm

o ty ty ty , hope if this happens there are no IG’s i saw quite a few good ones but a lot more that were power hungry lil, so and so’s and some of them cursed just as bad or worse than people that got banned, please don’t bring them back or at least make it harder to be one, there was a true abuse of power with some of them, all ya need is the ignore feature and a paintball gun πŸ˜€

    • #165 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.20 - 2:22 pm

Island Guides are pretty much useless to a There.Com without basic memberships.

      • #166 by Cerenela on 2011.04.20 - 5:36 pm

IGs used to help new members not only basic members.xD!

      • #167 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.20 - 8:03 pm

While this is true, the correlation between members being both basic and new was extremely high when it comes to the demographic the Island Guides were helping. I was an IG once. I had the shiny yellow star. I know it feels nice to be representing a program you love as well as helping the community, but come on guys status does come into it, somewhere in the back of our minds. You can be a “guide” or better yet a role model, without any programs and without wasting resources which Makena no doubt cannot afford to shell out on any more.

      • #168 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.20 - 8:11 pm

This is where a lot of people have absurd beliefs that they absolutely need to be an “Island Guide” or have a star in order to help new members. This is the case in most games where people feel they need to be a GM in order to help new members. In reality, you do not need to be an “Island Guide” or have any icon on your name in order to help new members. Sure there were rewards with being an “Island Guide”, but that should not be the motivation to helping new members. You should be helping new members because you want to and love helping them and if you have that quality then you sure don’t need rewards to be motivated into doing it. So just do it regardless.

      • #169 by mimi06 on 2011.04.21 - 2:12 am

“guides” interesting to know just what everyone thought about guides, and the roles they played. Not sure there was a cost to hold this program, many thought we got “paid”. rofl. player/guide interaction, didn’t mean just standing idol chit chatting. Some had an eye for trouble, some had the gift to entertain, and yes some had a “star” for the glory of bragging. BUT most truely worked hard to represent THERE , and monitor its world. Would be a nice thought to think Games wouldnt need guides, or mods. Imagine a free for all to do as we please. Yes, thats appealing! A world, with pedifiles, griefers, harrasment. Maybe IF THERE reopens, MW can sit and watch a screen all day, banning or removing those said above rofl..either way, I was pleased to assist as needed. Never paid a cent to assure a safe world to log into.. just a side note here.. MANY helped THERE progress, one I want to mention that was extrodinary in the THERE world community was Group_IPlanet πŸ™‚ NO star for them . prime example of what being a great community helper was..so need a STAR? nope..

      • #170 by NathanAvis on 2011.04.21 - 7:49 am

Hey mimi, Greeters cost a chunk in salaries. I guess that, along with time spent developing items officially or approving them might have eaten into There’s funds a fair bit. And yes there were a lot of nice helping people over the years before the program existed.

      • #171 by NurseJay on 2011.04.21 - 7:22 pm

True, the Greeters were paid… even before there was a guide program. The Guides were not paid and so, in actuality the guides themselves cost very little to the company. Actually as far as manpower, they increased the effectiveness of every dollar paid to a Greeter.

Yes some guides were clunkers, but for the most part I must say that I am very proud to have worked with such a fine group of volunteers.

Shout out to iPlanet!!! they rocked in two languages! There were many others who helped out with new members in their own way, and in any world there will be those. Some people just enjoy helping others.(period)

When I joined There.com it was paid basic membership with multiple option packages. Back in those days, there were no guides and only one or two greeters. That did not equal a shortage of helpful folks. The ratio of helpful to destructive, was quite dramatically affected for the worst, when free memberships were introduced. Nothing ventured nothing to lose.

Since the community team would be dramatically non-existent on restart, it would also be impossible to have an official volunteer group.

If there were to re-open, we would all in some way need to be helpful to keep new members, since we all value there.com and want it to prosper.

It seems whenever you get a actual good question, you ignore it yet answer stupid questions.

I bet they stole your local IP’s, and then redistributed them!

I once had someone steal my home address, I got them arrested & locked up. (same thing right?)

      • #187 by RRTT on 2011.04.20 - 7:50 am

Probably as in it will probably be again! I like the sound of that. I do have another question Mike. If it does in fact open up and we begin investing our money once again, How can you convince us that it won’t die again in six months or a year time. We all know what it did to us the first time, I don’t think a second time would go over well. Can you say anything to gain the trust of those who might not be secure in buying hundreds of dollars in therebucks like we did the first time around?

      • #188 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 8:04 am

As I’ve said, it’s my intention to expose the company’s finances so you can see what it costs, and if costs are being covered. People will see how much we spend on personnel, computing power, technology, advertising (so you can all be as annoyed as we were at spend versus exposure, etc).

Let’s remember, Therebucks are not gold, they’re not an investment any more than World of Warcraft Gold is, or The Sim Simolians are. Everyone has to be realistic about this, whatever game or MMO you’re using.

If you read the TOS carefully, you’re not actually buying anything in There (or any other game) : You’re buying the right to use “it” exclusivly, where “it” is a digital representation of a bunch of bits. I know it doesn’t seem that way, but it’s true: How can you “own” an ethereal collection of bits which don’t have a unique location (in real life), indeed, they’re not even a unique copy?

This survey is to see if there are enough people to make the business sustainable so it doesn’t close after six months. I believe if we get enough people, then we can do that, and can find ways to sustain that level.

But in the end the choice is yours. You have to decide how much you want to spend — not “invest” — to enjoy the world and be comfortable with that.

      • #189 by Karmapup on 2011.04.20 - 9:01 am

The only thing in this world that is permanent is impermanence, nothing lasts forever. This isn’t about trust, it never was. I was irritated when there.com closed down, but I understood why. Right now, we can all be pleased that MW is making an attempt to make this work. IF it does work and we all get to enjoy our beloved there.com again, well that would be super awesome crazy cool! You want convincing that it will not die after 6 months, well I suggest you move on down the road now, cause that’s not gonna happen. No one could make guarantee’s like that at this point. As MW has stated, MANY times, “We’re trying to ascertain whether or not we have enough support for paying members to re-open.” For the sake of conversation, let’s say MW gets awesome numbers after a month and decides to reopen. Then after 6 months, subscriptions have dwindled down to near nothing and he is forced to close once again. At least we got it for 6 months, a place we never thought we would see again. Whether for 6 months or 6 years, I will be happy. Thanks for the attempt MW, regardless of the outcome πŸ˜‰

      • #190 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 9:06 am

Thanks for the support, I appreciate it.

I just wanted to make one thing clear: The investors, and I, can’t run There like a charity any more. We ran at a loss for, what, 13 years (“loss” = more money out than in), and it’s time to “fish or cut bait”, as they say. In the early years especially, millions of dollars went into R&D (something which seems to escape the people who are going to build “The Next There, but better” in less than a year), and it shows in the quality of the product. We just need to turn it from a R&D project to a real(er) business.

        That’s all :-).

      • #191 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.20 - 8:29 pm

I’m with Karmapup on that one. Even if I get to enjoy it for only 1 day. πŸ™‚

This song explains it better than I ever could: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuE1XJ_uqOs

Last night I had a crazy dream where a wish was granted just for me and it could be for anything. I didn’t ask for money or a mansion in Malibu. I simply wished for one more day with There.com. Just one more day, one more time, one more sunset maybe I’d be satisfied. But then again I know what it would do, leave me wishing still for one more day. πŸ™‚

First thing I’d do is pray for time to crawl. I would unplug the telephone and keep the TV off. I’d stay logged in every second and talk to a million Therians and count my inventory items a million times. That’s what I’d do with one more day with There.com.

This has me wondering. Since you would expose financial information, does that mean you can or will tell us how many members There.com had (both active and total)? And would you share with us monthly how many paid accounts there were?

  67. #192 by Basya on 2011.04.20 - 2:57 am

However I do have a suggestion: If you do decide to charge (for example) $10 a month with an option to prepay for 6 months– how about a discount — for example $55.00 to promote the 6 month subscription?

Oh yes, I may want to be able to transfer some inventory from a couple of other alts I had (can’t remember what I left in their accounts).

Hope to cya all in There!!

If you own a funzone/frontier/or Neighborhood on another avatar, could you transfer the deed(s) over to the main account we are currently using? Also, for those who using the coca-cola avatars, what would happened to them? Can we still use our avatars even if Coca-Cola is no longer sponsoring?

    • #210 by Soede on 2011.04.19 - 7:04 pm

I’m going to go out on a limb and say if you want to have stuff transferred from one avatar to another, you’ll need to spend the money and activate both avatars for at least a month. People seem to be wanting There to take care of a transfer for them without paying for it, but of course that is not in the interest of the company. It would take extra work to do the transfer for you and not make them any $.

The Coca~Cola question is of more interest to me and I’d like to hear how that will be handled. My guess based on MWs first Q&A listed above, is that the Coke avatar names would be extracted along with all the others and would be just like the others now, but that’s just my guess. We’ll have to wait for official word.

      • #211 by Winston on 2011.04.20 - 5:27 am

I think Mr. Wilson’s larger point is until There CAN re-open, all of these questions about “stuff” and “de-bannification” are moot. As far as that certain soft drink manufacturer in Atlanta goes, they probably paid a one time fee for the creation of the island. In return, said soft drink manufacturer lent their label for use on officially licensed product which were only available through the manufacturers web sight and not for Tbux. I think the more interesting question is will those officially licensed textures still be available? I have two buggies and a SWEET looking hoverboat with the logo in question on it. However, I don’t need an answer to this question because, again, if There doesn’t reopen, all these questions/demands are academic.

      • #212 by Roxannie on 2011.04.20 - 6:15 pm

i believe he covered this already, and said the coke avatars belong to there.com and they would be coming back, i could be wrong, but i know they can turn a coke avatar into a normal one and visa versa, because I had a non coke avatar and one day i logged in and it was a coke avatar, YIKES, i called there and explained this and within minutes they told me to relog and all the coke logo and crappy stuff was gone, yay!

  77. #214 by EvenStupider on 2011.04.19 - 5:42 pm

    Mr Wilson,

I don’t think the current statistics demonstrate a true reflection of those interested in bringing back there.com. Thumdar, Onverse, or YowNow (without trying to discredit their merits) are all together are insignificant outlets for channeling those who are interested in the revival of there.com to your survey. I’m sure the word of mouth does help, but that too is insufficient. There.com was an incredibly unique game, and truthfully speaking, all the other social platforms out there are pretty much as lame as can be. It always surprised me to see the unwillingness of Therians to play anything else BUT there. Hence, I think that instead of ‘moving on’, many users just dropped everything all together. I truly believe you can recapture almost every consumer of there.com, but making the majority of them aware, however, involves some out of the box thinking that unfortunately rests on your plate πŸ™‚ Good luck to you sir.

I am so looking forward to driving my buggies again and building buggy jumps and Sumo Buggy Wrestling arenas again. My wife and I both have the life time Beta Accounts from the old Beta Testing days, and I know you have said that you would honor these as free accounts with no monthly fee. I just want you to know that I will also be willing to pay a monthly fee on one of my other accounts. Now here is my problem, at the time of closing, becausae I had so much inventory as a long time member, I had 40 priemum accounts with fully paid membership fees and inventory. I am sure that is going to be a problem. Having many avatars allowed me to build PAZ communities, and large groups of buggy jumps. Having lots of Avies was one of the ways I enjoyed supporting the old THERE. That is going to be alot of consolidation. At least I still know the passwords and email accounts on most of those accounts, via a well kept spreadsheet. If I promise to pay one or two monthly fees as well as maintaining my BETA accounts, is there a chance to get all that inventory consolidated? Will all that inventory make it impossible for me to move in the new world? i.e. will I still need a few mule Avatars to hold some of the inventory to make activity in the new There not a huge burdon on servers and my frustration levels? If you need someone to test the new system with lots of inventory, then I volunteer. I was in the old THERE every day for 6+ years and I really miss the distributed physics and freedom that allowed me to relax and have fun with friends.

    I

  83. #225 by Jason on 2011.04.19 - 3:42 pm

What EXACTLY is meant by “combine avatars”? Like you could just somehow combine inventories, but set them to one avie?

I think letting people log into any avatar for a one or two week term, to transfer stuff over is the best and least complicated option. And if people don’t get that done in time, tough luck. A week or two is a long enough period to be fair.

I also think it would be a good idea to only reset the accounts of avatars with a silver funpass or less, so if any former Thereians whom do not choose to return at the moment of reopening, would have the option to at a later point with their avie and inventory still intact. Would this even be possible to do, somehow in the coding only reset avatars of a certain fun pass colors? Obviously if the funpass is blue or to a lesser extent bronze the avie’s owners didnt put much of an effort into leveling the avatar or playing period therefore are unlikely to return to game at any point. However one of a gold or silver who clearly spent hours and hours on game may at somepoint like to return but would not want to if they must just start over from the start.

Any input would be appreciated Michael

    thanks.

      • #229 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.19 - 5:47 pm

Amen. In fact, it is having the opposite affect.

    • #230 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.19 - 5:37 pm

The question was already answered in the FAQ part of the post. Read it again. And just because it is 18+ does not mean it isn’t PG 13 TOS still.

  85. #231 by bronnieb59 on 2011.04.19 - 2:53 pm

Well I for one am very happy with all of the above questions and answers….sounds like it might even be better 2nd time around πŸ™‚

  86. #232 by Chanz on 2011.04.19 - 2:01 pm

I know you’ve made it very clear that you won’t allow people under 18 to play, but what would happen if someones account age is under 18 and they try to log in? Would it say their account has been banned or locked? Just curious on what I’ll be seeing when I attempt to log in..

  87. #233 by CubanCarlos on 2011.04.19 - 2:01 pm

    Hey Michael,

Just a question, do you play Portal? πŸ™‚

    • #234 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.19 - 3:14 pm

      Of course! Who doesn’t?

      • #235 by xSnoopy on 2011.04.19 - 5:33 pm

OMG, I didn’t see the movie, read the book or play Portal.. I’m so NEVER getting on the Internet after tonight.
Michael, PLEASE let me into There ONE TIME so I can commit suicide by jumping off of Avie Sacrifice πŸ™‚

      • #236 by daniel on 2011.04.19 - 7:44 pm

Please note that we have added a consequence for failure. Any contact with the chamber floor will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your official testing record, followed by death.

  88. #237 by xxBethanyxx on 2011.04.19 - 1:54 pm

would we still have the same nametag colors? πŸ˜€

    • #238 by Shauna Meyers on 2011.04.19 - 2:10 pm

      HI BETHANY:)

    • #239 by Orielle on 2011.04.20 - 3:30 pm

lol That would be something if There reopens and we all have new nametag colors especially for those who made items for their nametag color team. With my luck I’d end up with a green nametag πŸ˜›

      • #240 by xxBethanyxx on 2011.04.21 - 9:04 am

Haha! Yes! Because i have a ton of Teal Team jackets and such from There Games, and if i wound up with something completely different that’d be somethin else.

    From Aussie Land!

Agree with noBion. I found this out because my dad told me, not sure where he found it out.
Suffice to say I told my sis to vote, she would love to see it back.
I really like where it’s going though, particularly three points (forgot the third one) (just remembered it).
No trial accounts – Great idea.
No Adult content – Excellent idea, there is enough of that one store shelves and anywhere else on the internet.
Under 18 thing – That would be a HUGE problem for other large MMO’s (but they are specifically targetted at minors).

In regards to “42”, I’ve seen the movie and read the book and unfortunately, the book is a lot better πŸ™‚

Excited, can’t wait till May when the survey results are in.

  90. #242 by there_forever on 2011.04.19 - 11:47 am

Double voting and hacking the survey…
What if 2 users that live in the same house and use the same internet connection vote from their own pc or laptop?
Will that be considered a hack or duplicate vote?

    • #243 by Innie on 2011.04.19 - 12:45 pm

I actually wondered this, too. I have two users in my house, and we each voted from separate machines. However, we do share an IP addy.

      • #244 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.19 - 12:46 pm

Oh no, you’re fine. The people that are doing it know they’re doing it :-).

      • #245 by Innie on 2011.04.19 - 6:31 pm

Thanks Michael! I appreciate the clarification πŸ™‚

      • #246 by MissMostOfYou on 2011.04.20 - 7:57 am

is that 2 or = 2 in the household?

      • #247 by MissMostOfYou on 2011.04.20 - 7:59 am

Hey that should have said 2 or =2 !! its deleting our marks lol!

      • #248 by MissMostOfYou on 2011.04.20 - 8:10 am

oh well darn – the website won’t show the less than or more than signs! first Innie cant get ’em right, now it doesn’t post them at all! lmao!

Any news on mass emailing? 2000-3000 answers does seems like a very low number compared to amount of members had. But you do not really stumble upon it except if your still visiting thumdar.com (and similiar) or your blog. There.com website has since close down almost been empty for content. Therefore there havent been much reasons to visit it much.

Im very excited about that emailing methode.

Hello Michael Wilson, I don’t think I understood this question correctly:

    Q. Will all I get my old Avatar?
    A. Yes. Our plan is to β€œstart fresh”, and create a new Avatar for you in the system (with the same look, buddies, etc,), and then, overnight (or in the next couple of days), restore all your inventory. This will be much better, as you’ll be in a nice, fresh, empty There without millions of old Avatars and possessions laying around.

Does that mean, that I will have to create a new avatar with the same name, and then you’ll restore my inventory? Because If I remember right, then I had alot of stuff which I hope still excist if There Re-opens. Please explain MW, or maybe someone else.. I’m a dumb at English sry! πŸ˜€

    • #252 by Secrets of Vonira on 2011.04.19 - 2:06 pm

The way I read it in one of his replies to a comment in the last post is you’ll have to enter your old account details, most likely the email address and password, so nobody’s old accounts will get taken. It would then retrieve your olf avatar’s appearance, clothes and inventory from the backup.

    • #253 by daniel on 2011.04.19 - 2:27 pm

i think they will restore the account but i dont know 100%

    • #254 by Orielle on 2011.04.20 - 2:19 pm

It says that a new avatar will be created FOR you. That suggests that they will be creating the new avatar for you adding the same look, buddies, etc that you had before and I am guessing it will also have same email and password as the old one.

      • #255 by Roxannie on 2011.04.20 - 6:03 pm

it also says ~ and create a new Avatar for you in the system (with the same look, buddies, etc,), same look same buddies then all your stuff in the next few days, not sure what it doesn’t explain, you will look the same, have the same buddies and get your stuff

Ironically enough, its also the number of people who didnt answer question 1 which is probably the most important of all!!!

      Those poor lost souls….

For those you do not know. ’42’ is the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. Your welcome.

Ironically enough, its also the number of people who didnt answer question 1 which is probably the most important of all!!!

  96. #260 by Puddlefish on 2011.04.19 - 10:35 am

just shy of two thousand… not too bad, considering it is dominantly word-of-mouth

  97. #261 by Jake on 2011.04.19 - 10:31 am

If we were perm banned would we be allowed back on, if it wasnt for 13+ content

    • #262 by EvilSidez on 2011.04.19 - 3:04 pm

Like I said, if it was +13 Pg reasons that someone was banned, when it reopens people that weren’t banned for serious illegal stuff should be allowed back on, take my word that you’ll reach the income amount you need in a heartbeat if you do that, and if they grief again.. just ban em.. Simple as that.

      • #263 by Jake on 2011.04.20 - 6:10 am

Would the people with premium before there closed, get back on for free or would they still have to pay

      • #264 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 6:28 am

No. We can’t afford to operate that way any more. The “Premium” price you paid isn’t enough to support your avatar for all time, unfortunately.

      • #265 by Jake on 2011.04.20 - 6:31 am

So even tho we paid for the premium we would still have to pay per month????

      • #266 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 6:32 am

        Yes.

      • #267 by Jake on 2011.04.20 - 6:49 am

Can i get my premium refunded then????

      • #268 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 6:51 am

No. I’m not sure why you would expect that.

      • #269 by Jake on 2011.04.20 - 6:57 am

I expected it because, i thought the old users before there closed, would get back in for free, since they paid for the premium at that time

      • #270 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 7:00 am

That doesn’t make any sense. Since There used the premium fees to pay things like salaries, electrical, health care, etc, how would you expect There to get all that money back to refund everyone’s premium fee? Have you ever heard of any other game doing that?

      • #271 by Jake on 2011.04.20 - 7:02 am

Thats the reason why i said would premium members get back in for free, because we paid for the premium fee at the time

      • #272 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 7:03 am

Yes, but you have not paid the new monthly charge. Whether or not your avatar is premium (and has voice), the new monthly charge still applies.

      • #273 by ehern on 2011.04.20 - 7:03 am

hmm, would people who paid for premium get the first month for free, that would add up for the 10 bucks we paid to ger premium ;D

      • #274 by Michael Wilson on 2011.04.20 - 7:04 am

Yes! And then There would close again!

        No.

  98. #275 by Chrisrc2006 on 2011.04.19 - 9:20 am

Those are 42 poor lost souls…. They must be voting Trump for prez… Winning?
