Whew, lots of stuff going on.
As you all have guessed, we invited more Guinea Pigs into ThereIM, and, for the most part, almost all of them courageously took up the challenge to help us test (one kicked, screamed, and cried like a little boy, but we got them in. Unfortunately, their avatar wasn’t quite…how do I put this? “whole”, when it arrived. Anyway, moving on). As you can imagine we exposed lots of little niggly bugs, almost all of them related to:
- Sending out emails with equal signs in them. Yes, you heard it right.
- Being a NAT’d system where “what we see” is different from “what you see” (a situation which most men in the audience here are well aware) (“Me: Conan”, she sees “You: In your dreams!”)
The good news is that SamSyn and Bruce are working away at it.
Meanwhile, SamSyn continues to work on getting the World-at-Large to work. It’s got a ways to go, and you’ll all be on ThereIM long before you’re in world, but we’re making progress.

So.. After all the hard work Samsyn did.. to get me fixed for ThereIM.. come to find out it was ME that goofed it up.. ( as usual). That being said. I opened ThereIm, logged on.. and went into a state of shock! The only words I could mumble( type) were OMG. Since last night, I have relogged numerous times, thinking I was dreaming. I changed my clothes, tried all my super bunnies on :O, all og my island guide clothes 🙂 fixed my hair, did the jig, chatted with the other GP,s , and stared alot. I had only used ThereIm a few times when it was available, last year, didn’t realize it was such a big part of who we are. Everything seemed to look wonderful, to me. Right down to my traditional hair bunn rofl.. I cannot wait till you all are in, and I only hope you feel this sense of excitement I do. I am honored I was asked to GP, even tho alot of you know alot more abaout such bugs then me. I will come here often and share what I can. Just know this, MW and the crew are working MORE then you know, hours and hours to get you home, I have experienced this first hand with my fumbles.. They truely are amazing. All I can say, we sure have done a heck of a lot of celebrating on just this one single page of his blug. Honestly I don’t think I’v ever seen a blug page move at this speed. Even being moderated somewhat for that matter. We are some online community us Therians. We do know how to turn a little party into a world wide event.
I was not able to do any testing yesterday or today yet because I have company in real life who knows nothing of my virtual life. I can’t wait till they decide to go home.
I would rather entertain you folks than them. Does that mean I’m addicted when I want to be with all of you over my real life friends? Oh who cares. I hope they leave.

It costs a lot of money to “childproof” the game. He commented on it in a previous post. He did however say “In the future this might change, but that decision is final for now. Again, I apologize.” So Im assuming that when there gets back on its feet and (maybe) starts raking in profits they may allow 13+ again. Until then They cant because of the costs. If I remember correctly he said it was due to moderation purposes and the expenses it takes to moderate a PG-13 world.

Thanks for all of the updates to the pigs. We appreciate you sharing your experiences with us. Especially those of us who refresh Michaels blog every 10 minutes to see if there is another update. Sounds as if you guys are having a real nice time testing the world and it’s nice to know there are just a few problems even if they are big ones. Good luck and keep us updated! We’re real anxious to get back into our Home.. and to Michael, Bruce, and Samsyn.. Thank you for all your hard work and Im sure I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate everything you guys are doing most importantly giving us our 2nd home back. Good luck GP’s!

It’s a little frustrating not being in world yet.
That frustration is replaced by knowing that, when my turn comes I will be only one of only a very few who will get to view the world and watch the changes on a daily basis and help There fix any problems I see.
The world is so large that I will be posting screen shots of the places I visit.
For you guys, ALL OF YOU, who miss Zephyr as much as I do. When the teleport works, it will be the FIRST place I tele to. I will take lots of screenshots and post them and TRY to give you a daily update.
If, for some reason one of the GP’s or any of the There crew shows up (that includes you Michael 🙂 ), without a Forcefield, I will promptly shoot them and post those pics also.
If the Zone function works, I will also be letting you know if the Paz’s are out and are where I expected them to be, especially yours Billy!
I don’t want to lose this opportunity to be a GP so if any Paz’s are missing, I wont touch that area, just let you know its empty.

Like what kind of bugs? I haven’t heard yet from the last set of feedback I had turned in, but I had some multiple-stacking issue when it came to the ChangeMe portion of ThereIM. For instance, it would say I had rose glasses AND nerdy glasses on at the same time, when my avie didn’t physically show it. When I tried to take off one of the items it swore I was wearing, it wouldn’t do it — it still kept saying I was wearing it. Or else I’d take one off and then something completely different would come off instead. It’s like playing Stripper-Russian roulette or something. LOL You never know if someone’s gonna throw some tbux your way for what does come off, usually something you weren’t planning on. LOL

ThereIM seems to be working fine when you take the proper steps to get it working.
There are some lost connections at times, where you have to establish a chat again.

Hello out there from Guinea Pig land,
To say the last 36 hours has not been frustrating, would be untrue!
Since Thursday, when I discovered my invite, it has been one misstep after another on MY part. The crew at There has been spectacular! Considering what they are trying to do and then have to hold my hand while this mess was straightened out.
First one was my forgotten password for xSnoopy. I could see my chances to be one of the first, fading fast. Went to bed Friday morning at 3:00 AM after about 6 emails between myself and There.
If you didn’t use the “Secret Phrase” method of retrieving your password in the old There, DO IT the first chance you can! It saved my butt!
Once the password problem was solved, I skimmed one of the several emails I got from There. This one told me where I could download the new ThereIM. OOPS,
I have always been a “hands on guy” and love to put things together without reading the instructions. It has been my downfall for a long time LOL
I had There installed on this computer so I tried to log into world. I got as far as There Central. where, after several attempts I finally gave up on the world and explored There Central.
As MrScrooge said, the first smile came when I went to my Profile and it showed up. Believe me, an insignificant thing like that means a lot after 16 months of trying to remember There.
Now im thinking a little more positive. Soooo, I installed ThereIM and immediately ran into more problems. OF MY OWN DOING! There is this little thing you need to do before it will connect. Hmmm, I skimmed that one to. Ok, got that fixed.
I didn’t use ThereIM before There closed so I had NO buddies list.
Now I need someone to talk to.
Soooo, back here and Thumdars blog to find out who were the other GP’s I could share my frustration with LOL
FINALLY, last night, I connected with one of the GP’s and she lit up my world!! No, it was NOT Tig LOL
Today, after adding a few more buddies, I had a 4 way chat with Orielle, Francis_7 and Shivaki.
Now I know there is hope for all of us! It was worth EVERY second of the frustration to see another avatar, to see them laugh (rofl), to be able to share with them, our journeys.
I won’t post any screen shots this time, as you have seen everything I have seen so far.

Hi there, fellow guinea-pigger! LOL I think the zero buddies isn’t just you; I know I had a couple on mine before There closed, and now it said zero (till I added a GP or 2 anyway). I believe MW said in a previous post (or in one of the emails we got) that we would have zero buddies to start with. So hey, that’s another one you can cross off your task list! 😉

Orielle’s been a huge support, even if I don’t get into THEREIM, I am happy to be a apart of the GP team.. lol. Hey fellow GP! I had probs with accessing ThereIM too. I just did a clean uninstall, deleted any leftover files, shortcuts, folders, etc., then restarted PC & did a clean install. I can log into it now, but I haven’t had any luck getting a chat going with anyone. Maybe by Monday our issues will be fixed. 🙂

I don’t know if this will help everyone trying to get their password but .. I use Firefox and I got my password and username for my There login from the Saved Passwords.
Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords …. in the search box at the top I typed in “there.com” .. and up they popped. Showed my username .. I clicked the link to Show Passwords .. and said yes at the prompt .. it showed me my password for my There account.
I thought I’d pass this along .. it *may* help some who are needing their data. I have it on my old compy and on this one as I transfered the entire FF data to my new one so nothing was lost.

i have like 6 boats and 6 buggies but only one bike, and it was a gift. buggies and boats was my thing. I had an outfit to match most. You gotta dress the part. Loved driving my Cop car dressed to match down Hemp Beach just for laughs. some times i had friends join me. I miss my 4 seat buggy……GOT GO…somethings in my eye…sniff sniff

I just wanted to comment on some of the little things I enjoy with the ThereIM. I can’t say how much I missed the sounds when you get an IM or the sound when you trial something and it’s about to expire. Just hearing those things brought a smile to my face. I know the rest of you are going to love it all when you get to come in.
Another one of the little things was my profile. I used to really enjoy writing things in my profile and this time was no different. I also got a kick out of seeing all my old skill levels. I can’t wait to get back to work on those!
But my most favorite thing is I can just type away and not have to click in some little annoying box. The downside is that I have to really watch my spelling now LOL. But it is great how easy it is to just chat away in ThereIM. I can’t wait until the rest of you can join us. The team is working hard fixing the things we find so hopefully very soon you’ll be able to join us, just don’t bother MW or he may run over me again LOL

My guess is he’s on the southeast slope of NeNe’s Peak just above Tabu. I recognize the pass into Tiki Valley. I have a PAZ in Wordgrove not far from there and the terrain looks quite familiar. After double-checking a map of Caldera, I’m pretty sure that’s where he is.

I always look for the black box posts from MW to see what he has to say and then go back to see others comments. We have all been without There for along time. I know how others feel missing it. I have a mangled EMail verification link so it looks like I wont be able to join you, on the sand, in a buggy right away. Still waiting for migration of my stuff anyway.

OK, I got an Invite to enter There.com.. Unfortunately the Password I have just isn’t working, that seems to be MY only problem.
Yes I am sad. BUT it can’t be helped at the moment there is no way at this time for There.com to retrieve PASSWORDS but that was mentioned early on in MW’s blog.
SO!! I will wait with HOPE ( like I did for There.com to reopen) that a Solution is figured out But, I wish there was a Way I could pay for my subscription NOW so I can feel like I’m am helping in that tiny way.

Hi! Add me to the guinea pig list as well; my avie is under the name, “CrypticAsian”. I wasn’t sure who all the GP’s were, so all I’ve been able to add so far is Studly & Orielle, and of course, Samsyn, but he’s more of the guinea pig slave driver… 😉 I don’t know if I’m having probs connecting or it’s just the timing (or timezones) involved, but I haven’t been able to get a chat going at all. Then again, I seem to be the only one with the clothing-stack probs (ThereIM says I’m “wearing” multiple eyeglasses at once & other things, even though my avie doesn’t physically show it). Normally I do not even pay attention to my personal email. I had to clean out months and months worth of junk that has filled up my inbox and junk box. As I did I carefully scanned each email to see if it is an email from There or my Therian friends. Now my personal email account is cleaned out in anticipation of either news that There is open or that I have been invited to test it out. In either case, I am excited and happy that it will not be too much longer that we will all returning to our home and to see our friends. Life is good! I am sooooo freaking happy! Michael if you were in front of me I would have to give you a big hug. Thanks Michael all of the hard work going into reopening is much appreciated by many.

To my knowledge There never got the email issue with Comcast settled, as I never did receive the email regarding the survey and don’t know of anyone else on Comcast who did. Maybe Comcast put There (pun accidentally intended) address on a spam list that they won’t even allow personal emails through.

Don’t be in to big a hurry for your blue hair. Some things require enduring a lot of patience including blue hair. You might need to have an on duty There God migrate it first. Beware that you can’t know people by their tag colors yet. if your defensive about other name tag colors you might not be a good GP candidate. So far it seems that reds are in control of things but not the original reds.

MW I’m curious, I plan to meddle with designing this time around and wonder if it’s possible to download the templates and programs needed to do the designs now so I can practice while waiting or will I have to wait for the world to open to do so?

Stylemaker has all the templates pre-built into them. When you get it go to Item>Object here>texture>save as and save it. 🙂

I’ll be posting some GP screenshots on my blog in a bit, with permission from MW/There of course… I took so many, there’s no reason to post them all here; they’ve all been sent in/reported to There already so I assume it’d be ok to post. 🙂 I had some trouble with the Change Me in ThereIM. It kept saying I was wearing/stacking several items (like nerdy glasses and rose glasses) even though my avie showed only 1 of ’em. Not sure if I was the only one with that prob.

Worst thing you could have said in Michaels opinion. Read one of his earlier blogs, it says, asking to be invited or first will only put you further away from being selected. Which is fair enough, I like to post on the blog too and would love to test but myself and many others just let Michael do what he does best.

Yesterday a few things happen for the very first time on my PC. First I noticed these odd red numbers on my task bar tray flashing around 5:22 PM where my temp usually sits and is always and has always been blue numbers for like over 10 years now. So I’m like what in the heck…and I look closer and notice it’s now a bright burning orange red and flashing as if to really get my attention and I notice it says 101. Ouch! oooh whata scorcher. Well as it turns out this red color happens only when it reaches 100 degrees. Like 1 minute later I hear the local tornado siren goes off too to warn the public. Lol as if you couldn’t already feel it. The sirens were warning for excessive heat warning according to the TV news.
So the city is saying this is an emergency basically. The stores were even turning off gas pumps duing the afternoon. Stop laughing you Texans because yours is a dry heat and nothing compared to this humid heat wave version. This heat wave is scary and now when I see on TV all these horrible forest fires you all get out west I can see how they get started so easily. 1 little spark could set off the grass or a dead tree anything. Cooking out on a grill is dangerous actually with this kind of heat wave and my neighbors were doing it. OMG are they crazy! You could fry eggs & ham right on my door mat. Yes you can sure feel it when you step outside you think the earth has no air left for you to breath and you think you might suffocate. So here is a pic for proof.

Next I’m cooling off inside finally with air conditioning AND a fan going while drinking an ice cold Coke Zero when I notice some emails from There and I read them and realize, OMG, there must be a GP invite in the spam folder from the There Gods. OMG, and sure enough what do ya know, There it was in all it’s fantastic glory staring right back at me in the face “THE INVITE OF THE YEAR”. So It’s official “IMA” “GP”. heehee Here’s the proof.

It says I have 550t so I guess with the 100 gained I must have had only 450t 😦 but it’s a start. It was so cool to see anything with There open and functioning again. Seeing my avie again well, it’s a feeling I hope you all get to experience very soon too. It’s like seeing a long lost friend. I wanted to hug him and pat him on the back, shake his hand and make him go ‘heyhey ‘tu for good ole times and for making it though all this time all alone in that dark server room. ‘sad ‘happy lol poor little guy. Anyway I got a ton of videos for you all on youtubeville.

Ahhhh…darn not yet! Dang just a false alarm. Gurr I wanted to get in my bathing suit & flip flops then walk around on the beach with blue hair and lounge someplace with cocktails or just huddle with other totally mindless avatars and do crazy silly dances all night long. The way I see it is If the flamingos can all get along and all migrate together so can we.

I’m not getting any emails from There.com. I think I discontinued the one I signed up with originally and not sure if I remember my There password. I still have the There log-in on my computer There (v14136) (DX8) that has the encrypted password still stored. I’m just trying to figure out a way that I can get my main toon back. I can submit screen shots if that will help. One more problem happened to me the last night There was opened. I tried to get a friend unblocked that was on my ignore list and when I did it started deleting all my 600 or whatever the max friends were you could have. I think when I went to IM after it closed I only had like 100 or so friends. Lake777

My email address I used for There is no longer functional… I lost my domain 2 months after There closed. I think there are other ways to verify your identity to reclaim your old identity.. security questions being a biggy 🙂
