First, thanks to the GP3Ds who have continued to work hard to find bugs for us, patiently send us evidence, and put up with having SamSyn do little experiments on them. Without you, things would have been much tougher.
We’re not going to spend time on DX9 bugs right now. We know there are a few issues, all of which we think are related to “leaking state”. That’s all very exciting, but it’s not important right now.
Sigh. Quest Kits were evil, they’ve always been evil, and continue to be evil. SamSyn thinks we’re closing in on how their evilness has impacted migration of possessions (including one bizarre case where Buoys transformed themselves into…hair) (yes, hair). We are still working through the issues there. No, we’re not going to just let this slide till later. We’re not going to “fix all the bugs with quest kits” (because they’re evil), but we don’t want them breaking everything else.
SamSyn got data migration to migrate favorite places. Yay!
Policy for people who’ve forgotten everything
Mackie is working on a policy for those of you who’ve forgotten your passwords, old emails and don’t have a secret question (and don’t know the answer). No, the policy will not be sending angry emails to us, calling the office, or even dropping by (all tactics people have used). It will probably involve some sort of legal identification, so if you were planning on us recognizing your voice or your picture on the internet (“I AM Justin Bieber, here’s my picture”) so you could get your avatar back, you’re out of luck.
Here’s what’s going to happen next: SamSyn’s going to have another client or two to make sure we’ve resolved all the problems, and we’ll then invite another slug of GP3Ds (a big slug).
If that goes well, we’ll probably open the world to everyone who could participate in There Betas before to see how we do with lots of people in world. Everyone will be allowed to drop stuff, etc, but chances are we’re going to pick it all up again before we open. Seriously, don’t think that if you’ve dropped a PAZ in this period it’s going to stay there.
Banned Members Policy
As of right now, the policy remains the same: Banned before, banned now. We will revisit this later after we open. If you were banned for an exploit, threatening others, hate speech, or stealing, we’re not revisiting this. Sorry.
We’re slowly updating the WebSite to remove things like the word “Free” and other changes. You’ll see it change bit by bit.
That’s all for now.
