10 years ago, someone put a bug in There.
That bug caused us to “leak” at least 8Mb (maybe 16Mb) of storage every time you teleported (we were failing to release a graster we created for the veil while you teleported). It may have been responsible for the “Leak every time you try and log in” bug, too.
Anyway, SamSyn fixed that tonight, and it will be included in the next client.
Oh, we uppped the login limit again, and we’re not going to tell you what it is.
Here’s SamSyn’s quote from his Facebook Post:
Wewt! We found (and fixed) the “servers busy” memory leak (that led to your client being almost out of memory by the time you finally managed to login). Another 10 year old bug! this was the memory allocated for the ‘veil’ being leaked, so it also happened for every teleport. I’m still not sure why the ‘veil’ texture needs to be the same pixel dimensions as the screen, when it is just ‘all black’ which could be done with a single pixel texture… but hey, who am I to challenge the wisdom of the gods.
Now, the client will still tend to grow its memory footprint as it encounters new textures in your travels about the world, so you will still run out of memory EVENTUALLY, but it should be much better. (once this client hits the streets)
